1. How to look fat for a skinny girl? Fabric
Most of us actually want to look toned but not skinny. That being said, paying attention to the fabric is key.
The worst combo you can try is thin AND body-hugging outfits – it just thoroughly shows how skinny you are. This see-through white shirt below is a big no-no.
Instead, go for fabric that can add some thickness to your body.
Here are some examples:
- Corduroy
- Wool Tweed
- Suede
- Velvet
- Thick denim
Trust me, a suede velvet dress in winter just works wonders to thicken your body in the most perfect way.
❤️Girl’s fashion hack #1:
Use nail polish clear coat on fraying thread ends to stop further unraveling until you can properly repair the item!
2. How do you look thicker in clothes? Chiffon blouse
And when it comes to one of my summer best picks for skinny and tall girls, a chiffon blouse or dress has to be top on the list.
Featuring a unique texture, a chiffon blouse just floats out elegantly and creates a nice billowy silhouette.
The best part? It can create some extra volume for you without looking large and lumpy.
To nail the look, match a chiffon top with a tight bodycon dress to balance things out.

I love this chiffon top on Amazon, it’s hard to find an affordable top that is actually loose and flowy.
The double layers just flatter the thin body type the best way.
There are 20+ colors to choose from, check them out! ♥♥♥
SIDE NOTE:
That’s also why many girls with narrow shoulders also love chiffon- it just adds volume to the top perfectly!
❤️Girl’s fashion hack #2:
Prevent button-down shirts from gapping between buttons by using double-sided fashion tape <3

3. Puffy sleeve for tall slim ladies
If you don’t have a ton of puffy sleeves in your wardrobe, what are you waiting for?!
They are just as cute as they look practical.
To avoid the bony arms, the cami top is such a big no-no.

If you want to go sleeveless, a thick striped top will serve you better.
❤️Girl’s fashion hack #3:Rub clear deodorant on the inside hem of pants/skirts to prevent thigh chafing. ❤️
4. Neckline for tall skinny girls
Guess what, the neckline matters as well.

If you already look super slender, avoid wearing the sleek V-neck or square-neck top that tends to elongate your frame even more.
Off-shoulder is not preferable well.

Instead, go for the round neck and another high neck – perfect for girls who want to look bustier.
❤️Girl’s fashion hack #4:Use rolled-up magazine pages to maintain boot shape when storing – truly work wonders imo lol
5. Pay attention to color combo if you’re tall skinny
Of course, all my tips here are adjustable depending on your goal.
If you don’t want to look that slender, I’d say stay away from the monochromatic look.
Putting a similar shade of hue on your body just naturally elongates your body frame and makes you appear to be slimmer.

If you Insist on monotone, at least go for light hues like beige and white instead of all-black.
❤️Girl’s fashion hack #5:
Stretch tight shoes by wearing them with thick socks and blowing them with a hairdryer!
6. Layering outfits for tall skinny girl
Regardless of the season, layering up is key.
In summer, what about swapping up a T-shirt with a crop top layered with a boxy oversized blazer instead?
Or else, team a bralette with a loose-cut mesh top that is equally flattering as well.
When the days are chilly out there, the layering combo is basically endless. One of my favorite combos is to layer up a high-neck white top with a tartan tweed dress – such a vibe.
❤️Girl’s fashion hack #6:
Quick fix – Brighten yellowed white clothing by soaking in a solution of lemon juice and hot water!
7. How to look curvy when skinny? Embrace patterns
If you only wear solid in the past, guess what, it’s time to introduce patterns to your look!
From a floral dress to a chic striped shirt, patterns never fail to jazz up the look and serve as an ultimate mood booster.

PRO TIP:
Do you know vertical stripes actually add more volume than horizontal stripes?

Whenever I feel bloated, I’ll always use a rubber band to loop through a button hole and around the button for a temporary fix to pants that are too tight!
- 7 rules on how to wear horizontal stripes (This is for plus-size ladies but all you need to do is the exact opposite!)
8. Add dimension to your frame in a peplum dress
While some tall & slim girls embrace their “model figure” proudly, some of us wish to look curvier.

That said, the peplum dress is such a godsend.

Featuring the extra stripe of fabric gathered around the waist, it just fakes an hourglass figure for you like magic.
I love this peplum dress from Amazon – it just flatters the slender figure in the most perfect way.
PRO TIP:
To look curvy when you are skinny, adding a belt to the dress is always a handy trick.
❤️ Girl’s fashion hack#8: Keep Jewelry Organized While Traveling hackThread necklaces through drinking straws to prevent tangling – simply clasp the necklace and thread the chain through a straw.
9. How to look thick in jeans? Go for WHITE.
We all know embracing light hues can have an exaggerated effect.
But when it comes to the white skinny jeans, it’s the must-have for tall skinny girls as you are the minority that looks flattering in them.

Come on, let’s not waste your body!
Especially for the ladies who look bony in black jeans, you definitely have to give white jeans a go.
❤️Girl’s Beauty hack #9:Go for the budget-friendly retinol body cream for a mild but still noticable skin tightening effect!

I’ve been using this jar for 2 years and it works. That being said, if your skin is sensitive so I’m not too sure can you use it.
10. Show off the long legs in flared pants
As a no-brainer, flared pants look extra flattering when you have long legs.

Together with a lace blouse and kitten heels, this billowy look just looks extra feminine.

- Stiletto & pointy heels
- Thigh-high boots (tall girls rock them well)
And for the girls who want to look “fatter”, avoid the list above and check out the list below.
- ankle boots
- round toe shoes (e.g. ballet flats)
- low chunky heels
Amazon shopping tip!
Look for keywords in the description like “darted,” “tailored,” “stretch,” and “contour fit.”
Avoid terms like “boxy,” “oversized,” or “unstructured” unless that is a specific look you’re going for.
